On My Bosom

This is us Friday afternoon.  We were supposed to go out for a walk but while I was nursing her, she fell asleep (she got really tired walking and playing around the house) so no more afternoon.  I could have put her down to bed but I kind of felt really good the way she was embracing me and seemed to not want to let go of me.

Every night, every time I'd put her to sleep she's normally fall asleep this way while I nurse her in our bed. Yes, we co-sleep.  And I'd just roll over a bit to let her be in the bed once she's already completely fallen asleep.  She loves to nurse on top of me and sometimes even if I try to put her on the bed, she'd move her butt and crawl her way on top of me.  It's cute.  But I must admit there are times when she doesn't want to let go of me even if she's already asleep and would wake up the moment I try to put her on the bed and then she'd cry and crawl back on top of me, it's exhausting.  Mamitis, I tell you.  Then again, most of the times, I do enjoy this feeling of being the only one she wants and needs and that she'd want to be with me ALL the time.  Just me.  Her mami. The only one.  Mothers are so full of themselves when it comes to their children, right?

I must take advantage of this while it last as this will not gonna be forever.  There will come a time that I will be pleading her to just stay beside me, embracing me instead of going out and spending time with her friends or just to be with herself doing her own thing.

So that afternoon, more than an hour sleeping on top of me in the sofa.  House all cluttered,  laundry waiting to be put in the washing machine, etc - but nothing was visible to me except for this precious Little Spanish Pinay snoring and drooling while she sleeps on my bosom.

Thrilled!

Craving For Street Food

Last night I was craving for popular street foods in the in Philippines - kwek kwek, kikiam, squid balls, isaw, etc.  All I could do to satisfy this cravings is to make some kwek kwek... the rest is kind of impossible to find where we live.

Ready to be chowed!

There's  no orange food coloring here or atsuete so the batter turned out a little bit yellowish but once kwek kwek was fried, they already resemble the kwek kweks being sold in the streets of my beloved Philippines.  I also fried some meatballs in case kwek kwek wouldn't tickle hubby's fancy.  But I was almost sure he'd like them... hubby loves Philippine food including bagoong!

These kwek kweks are quail eggs or huevos de codorniz as how they are called here in Spain.  Covered in batter and then deep fried.   So landed in our dinner plate last night and I was happy hubby loved them.

A close up of the kwek kweks - they turned out to be good!

Here they are in our dinner table waiting to be chowed... complete with sauce ::sawsawan::

Button Dumb Dumb

Button - we all know what's a button, right? something round-ish used to attach typically pieces or parts of cloth or any kind of article.  But there's also another button that is common to cyberspace especially to bloggers.  It's like a badge that is used as an emblem of bloggers.  I've had a button for quite sometime now... I even have it up here in my blog just below my profile section and right into its title says: grab my badge.  A lot of bloggers that I frequent has something similar so I thought this is nice and I'd like to have one too... so I labored one using photoshop and once satisfied, I immediately put it up here.

I had this silly smile, head tilted, satisfied with how it looks and really represents my pen name.  Then I said, everyone puts "Grab my badge" or "Grab my button" on theirs so I did too.  I'm a copycat like that. What's so silly of me is that I didn't even know what it is for and how it can be grabbed.  Bottom line is, I have it there telling everyone to grab it but it can't be grabbed. Dumb, dumb, ain't I?  I haven't figured that out until now till I wanted to participate with TGIF Blog Hop.  There was a form that asks if I have a button and if it can be grabbed... I happily typed yes I have and yes it can be grabbed... but then was stumped.  Can it be grabbed? I realized I can't even grab it myself without having to go to the design page within my blog.

Everyone learns, right? And I am just glad I have started participated in this blog hopping thing as I am learning so much about bloggerworld!

So I proudly annouce that my badge can really be grabbed now! (that is if someone would be interested LOL)

Piping Fail

The last time I baked red and green velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, I had too many cream cheese frosting left over so I decided to do another batch of cupcakes yesterday.  But at the time I was already piping the cream cheese frosting down to the cupcakes, I had the major epic fail.

There goes the cupcakes few minutes away from getting out from the oven.
And there goes my little spanish pinay wondering around the kitchen LOL

I'll talk about the epic fail later on.  This time I used a different molder.  The molders are really for cupcakes and they are indifvidual - not a in a tray form. I loved the result!

Aren't they look lovely?

When I was mixing the batter, I thought I might have done something wrong since it looks like the batter is kind of thicker than the 2 previous times I made cupcakes.  I also thought that with these individual molders, I can make a little bit more than 12 cupcakes as they seem to be smaller than the previous ones I did (I was using muffin molders)... then again I was wrong on both.  The batter turned out to be just fine after baking AND I was only able to do exactly 12 cupcakes.

A close up look

They taste as good as they look, I promise :)   I love the way they look fluffy but crispy on top.  I think by now, I am already getting the hang of doing cupcakes.  And it's driving me nuts not to bake more cupcakes.  This is addicting I tell you.  But I can't just make 12 cupcakes everyday otherwise, hubby and I will grow triple our size in no time.

Cupcake after digging a hole

Last time I said I dug a hole on the cupcakes to put more cream cheese frosting inside as I want my frosting to last up to the last bite of the cupcake.  Here is how it looked like after digging the hole using this thing that removes the center of an apple ::I still don't know how it is called in English, for Pete's sake!::

So here's a picture of descorazonador - this little thing that removes the center part of the apple

And here it is in action

Now, what was the epic fail you say?  Here you go in visual:

The price you get for cheap piping bag from the Chinese store. Drat.

But I am still not buying one of those fancy, pricey ones since I have just started on baking and piping and making cupcakes and I don't think I'll be doing this very frequently.  So we'll see.  Definitely not buying those dirt cheap piping bags from the Chinese store again.

Cupcakes with fondant

Here are the final cupcakes after buying a better (still cheap) piping bag :)

By the way, I tried to decorate 2 cupcakes with fondant.  It was fun but I stopped with 2... as it takes a lot of my precious time :-D Probably some time when Little Spanish Pinay is already bigger and I am not working full time anymore I'll dedicate myself to designing cupcakes with fondant.. maybe... just maybe...

Moooo

And I just have to put this uber cute photo of my Little Spanish Pinay.  I asked her what does the cow say and she said moooooooo.  She's so darn cute.  The cutest cupcake!

Welcome Wednesday

... another blog hopping craze.   I seem to can't get enough of this and found another blog hopping meme:

something new I learned while blog hopping... this linky tool :) It's actually cool.

So here goes:

My little helper

A busy mami could always use a hand... even from baby hands.

She's crazy about the vacuum cleaner.  Vacuuming the floor is the only house chore I can do and complete without making her fuss because I am not paying attention to her.  She's in fact enjoying it.  She follows me around with her hand touching the vacuum like a pet.  It cracks me up to see her face following the vacuum wherever it goes with her little penguin steps and a classic face.  She looks so calm and satisfied, it's hilarious. I think she likes the sound it makes and the fact that it moves around plus the warm air that comes out of it.

Sounds unhygienic? Breathing the air that comes out from a vacuum cleaner does sound like unhygienic... to think that the vacuum sucks in all the dirt around the house so the air that comes out of it must be a big kamikaze of germs, bacterias and everything that is just ewww.  But I've checked.  This Dyson vacuum cleaner has what they call HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria.  They also claim that the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.  So that  shhhuses the worried mommy in me and lets me enjoy the first house chore that my Little Spanish Pinay shares with me.

Soon she'll be sharing more house chores with me... or probably doing them all on her own. hah.

Mamirazzi

Do I need to say I'm the biggest fan of my daughter?  Moms are crazy you know.  We never get tired of our kids' cuteness and all.   For us, our kids are the cutest, smartest and well, the best among any other kids. And that totally rocks.  I think that is one of the main purpose of a mom in this world... so that each and one of us would feel that we beautiful persons and totally loved by even just one person unconditionally - our mom.  Ok I have to say this, of course dads also love us unconditionally... but there's just something more especial in mom's love, right? Then we grow old and meet more people that will love us too and we'll love back as well... different kinds of love to different people... but nothing will compare to a mom's love.

And when we are blessed with so much love and attention from our mom when were children, it is also easier to give love to others.  Love begets love.

I remember the ending part of the movie Hook... where Peter Pan (Robin Williams) was about to finish Captain Hook and Peter Pan's daughter came running to stop him and told him to just let Hook go and she said: "Daddy, let's go home, please? He's just a mean old man without a mommy."  See, the world needs a mom to not turn out like Hook - a mean old man.

Another line from this movie that I really like and gives a warm tingle in my heart everytime I remember it is when Peter Pan asked his kids to think one happy thought so they can fly (still at the last part of the movie  I believe):

Peter Pan: Jack, Maggie, all you have to do is think one happy thought, and you'll fly like me.
Maggie: Mommy.

Her happy thought is mommy.  Wouldn't any mom melt when they hear their child say this?  I would!

Blog Hopping on a Tuesday

Busy Mom's Tips Tuesday Blog Hop

I started blogging to kind of have something to journal my thoughts most especially mom thoughts now that I have Little Spanish Pinay.  I didn't know later on that I'll get hooked with reading other bloggers' thoughts so I started blog hopping.  Sometimes it's kind of having girlfriends to share your thoughts with and listen to what they also think.  Being oceans away from where many of my real life friends are, blogging and meeting other bloggers online kind of help.  So I am joining this blog hop meme to hopefully meet more bloggers to share thoughts and emotions with.
