Parenting Blog Award: The Positive Parental Participation Blog Award

The Positive Parental
Participation Blog Award

Ages ago (yes, that's exaggeration), lovely Vivian has tagged me with this parenting award she herself has started.  I've had been given some blogging awards but this one is yet to be the most important and most appreciated one for me.  Vivian has started this award to give recognition to bloggers who, she believes exemplifies the tenants of Positive Parental Participation (words borrowed from her).
See, being a parent is for me, above any other role that I have right now.  I am really dedicated (sometimes obsessed) to be not just a good parent to our daughter but also one that is gentle and one that provides positive participation.  I deeply believe on positive and gentle disciplining and being really there, present and fully participating with her, whenever given the opportunity.
Of course, there's always a struggle.  At the time that Vivian has told me she got this award for me, I was in that moment when I was feeling insufficient as a parent, as a mom.  We were in that phase that meltdowns and tantrums and less sleep is very common at home and so I'd often find myself always on the edge and snapping every minute.

So when Vivian told me about the award, it nearly broke me into tears. It was just so timely.  I felt guilty at first as I thought I didn't deserve this but then I took it as a challenge... a gentle reminder of what I have told myself the kind of parent I want to be.

Again, I'd like to really thank Vivian for thinkking of me!  You always continue to serve as an inspiration to me.

I've been meaning to write about this post but couldn't find time as usual. But finally, I was able to do it :) and of course I'm going to pass this award along to other parents who I believe exemplifies the tenants of Positive Parental Participation.

Please feel free visit Vivan's article about it.  You can also continue to browse her other articles as you will surely pick a lot of things about activities, picture books and other things you can share with your children to have some quality bonding for positive parental participation :)

In reality, I have a very long list of bloggers to pass this award but I will start off with a short list as otherwise, I'd be making the longest blog entry of my life  :)  I do know that these wonderful bloggers below will be passing this award to other deserving mom/dad bloggers.

1. Kristeta of Kalokang Pinay sa Ukay -  She's one sweet mama and girl friend.  We haven't met in person but I do feel like I've known her personally for a long time now.  We do have so much in common in terms of parenting views and life situation in general.  I can almost see myself in her as a mother for her cute Jace... not to mention that Jace is also very similar to our Little Spanish Pinay. Jace is one lucky little fellow for having this uber sweet-thoughtful-baking-goddess mom.  It's always a pleasure to viber with her :)

2. Em of Akira and Everything Nice - She's my idol in breastfeeding. More than 3yrs now and still breastfeeding! If that is not one of the tenants of positive parental participation, then I don't know what it is :)  It always make me smile when she talks about her lovely daughter as it would always picture how she adores her and that she's all for her.

3. Annmarie of Mom to 8 Blog - She's a mom to 8 children! All raised so well.  She has such a positive and simple outlook in life that is simply an inspiration to me.  Her entries are most of the time short, funny and full of good insight.  It's always a pleasure to read her articles.  My favorites are about her conversations with her children!

4.  Mamas TodoTerreno - Behind this blog are two equally dashing mamas, Rebecca and Ava. This is one of the few blogs in spanish that I regularly check and read.  I love how they both create a positive and loving environment for their children.  I love the activities and the crafts they both do with their children. Many times, I'd steal their ideas ;-)

5. Madi of Entre Apuntes y Pañales - Another one of the few spanish blogs I read. What can I say, this young and dedicated mom is all giving.  She has a toddler just like me and I can always relate with her experiences on the terrible two phase.  I love the way she handles this difficult situation gently.  And now that she has been gifted with another adorable baby girl, I really don't know how she's doing all what she's doing now.  She's doing it so wonderfully... a total pro ;-)  Oh, let's not forget that she's a babywearer!

6.  Faye of Fighting For Maia and Turning Dreams to Reality - I have just recently met this mom through her blogs and I was already captured by her story.  As she puts it: I am alive because I became a mom. And for that I will fight to live so Maia can have a mother.  Those are such beautiful words.  She's a survivor, a doting mama who would overcome anything and everything for her little one... even cancer.

 7. Pepper of Days In aWagon - This artsy mom is also a heartsy.  Her gentleness and love for her little A is pasted all over her blog.  Her little family is adorable and her positive parenting participation is evident with how her little A is growing to be a really nice, sweet and well rounded little girl.  They have such a sweet, sweet bond and I'm looking forward to having the same kind of bond with my own daughter as she grows.

I could add more on this list but I'll keep it short and let the award roll from one mom/dad to another.

5th, 6th and 7th Blog Awards

Vivian, the lovely lady behind Positive Parental Participation blog has given me not one but 2 blog awards!  Vivan is a great inspiration by many parents like me. Go ahead and read one of her articles and you'll easily get emerged on reading some more and more.  I love the way her parenting style is centered into positive disciplining and just showering children with love and more love.   Helping children develop Positive self-image is one of her missions and I definitely support that.

Another blogger that has expressed her appreciation is Angela of First Comes Baby.  She has given me the Liebster Award.
Just like these blog awards, it helps each blogger to develop positive self-image by recieving postive appreciation by other bloggers. And  it doesn't stop there because it gets epidemic as each awardee gets to pay it forward! And that's exactly I am going to do now. I have a different list for each blog as this way, I can award them to more bloggers! But first, I gotta say something about myself which I find a little bit difficult.  I got stuck on this for quite a while.

1.  My favorite city in the US is Chicago. I've worked there for 11 months in total and it has been really a nice experience.  I've gained precious friends for keeps in here and most especially, this is where I met the man that God has chosen and prepared for me.

2.  I've been living here in Spain for almost 6 yrs now and I still do not think that I have already mastered the language.  Sure, I can communicate well and express myself but many times, I still get frustrated especially when I get confused on the different verb conjugation.   I didn't go to a formal Spanish class except for the first level class (too basic) I had in the Philippines before I finally moved in here.  It did help - a super tiny bit!  I learned training one's ears on understanding the language is as important as learning the grammar rule.

3.  I'm generally a shy person.  I am really bad handling compliments and attention.  But in front of really close friends and family, I am a big clown. I like to make them laugh and make fun of them :-D.  I love a good boisterous laugh.  I shriek and shake my eardrum away when I watch horror or suspense movies.  I shriek when I get really excited about anything.  I get emotional easily.  I cry easily.  It's easy to make me laugh.  But that doesn't mean I'm an easy girl ;-)  I like to think that I am really easy to get along well as I know well how to adapt with different situations and different people except with people who are snotty :-S

Whew... I think that's enough details about me.  Let's move on to actually passing on these awards to lovely ladies!

Blog on Fire Award

Hear me roar coz this momma got another award... and it's her fourth! *ROAR!!*

Thanks to Joy of Cool Bean Momma for giving me this award.  I was kind of extremely busy lately with work and sick little one plus a very affectionate husband seeking for my attention so I've been a bit behind blogging.  But what do you know, when I got back,  I got this very pleasant surprise from a dear momma blogger.  Thanks again, Joy!!

So to keep with the tradition, here's a list of the 7 things about me.  I gotta warn though... it'll be boring!!
  1. I've been working for the same line of work for 11 years now and I've just changed work twice. Blah. Boring.
  2. I've colored my hair just once in my entire *mumbles the age* years of life.  Blah. Boring.
  3. I don't know how to skate.  I tried to learn once but I was already around 20s by then and you know how the saying goes about old dogs... Blah. Boring
  4. Speaking of skating, I've tried ice skating maybe 4 or 5 times. I learned to glide a bit... skate sloooooowly without holding on to the rail but I swear I just look like a 4yr old who just peed on her pants accidentally. Blah. Boring.
  5. When I was in college, I was a member of the book and math club.  Blah. Booooring.
  6. I have a blue birth mark at my back near the shoulder that people would often mistaken as a bruise.  So what? Blah. Boring.
  7. Sleeping yet? Ok, here's the last that is maybe a bit interesting.  Just a bit. Maybe.
  8. I can move my ears.  Hah. Not too boring now, is it? Oh well, a lot of people can do too so, again, blah.  Boring.
Oh wait, I have some more freaky talents.  Nah, I'll just save 'em for the next award probably. *wink* *wink* :-D

There you go.  My blog is probably on fire but me, as me, has only a tiny bit of flame. Heh.  But as a mom, a roar! and as a wife, I roar even louder! Ask hubby ;-) LOL

Let's keep moving.  Now's the time to award this to 10 other bloggers.  This took me a bit while to compose because I tell you, I have a big list of blogs that I do love and reading everytime I get the chance to sit in front of the computer and dedicate time for blogging.

Ok, enough intro.

THE list:

Sunny of Sunny Toast
Einz of Mommy Tots
Monica of F.L.A.G
Veronica Lee of OF MICE AND raMEN
Daisy of Daisy Girl

Now, the next task is to inform each of these lovely ladies that they got an award from this roaring mom!

One Lovely Award

I've started blogging a few years back but it wasn't something regular. It was actually hubby who created the account for me and encouraged me to start blogging. It wasn't open to public either, not that it was restricted from public viewing but I just never promoted it or even told my friends and family about it. Then when we got pregnant, I created a new blog and wanted to journal all my thoughts and feelings and journey about pregnancy so I became of a more regular blogger...then Little Spanish Pinay came and it became even more regular and I just felt I want to share to the world the wonderful feeling of being a mom, the great journey on breastfeeding and life in general and then hopefully, be able to help someone who would stumble upon my blog.

And I have been really enjoying blogging. Just being able to have an outlet to spill my thoughts with, and a portal where I can share anytime of the day my experiences and feelings to my family oceans away is already a great trade off.

But receiving an award from fellow bloggers? It's an extra treat for me!

I'd like to thank OHM for giving me this award.

Now with every reward, comes a responsibility - or was that with great power comes a great responsibility? Yeah, sure is. But this award does come with responsibility but a sweet one at that! The awardee has to say 7 things about himself/herself and pass the award to 7 bloggers.

So here I go:

1.  I am still breastfeeding my Little Spanish Pinay for almost 13 months now and I intend to continue as long as she would still want to be breastfed.  I believe in child-led weaning.
2. I co-sleep with our daughter... I should say we i.e., hubby and I, co-sleep with LSP.  Hubby is perfectly fine with that and even enjoys it as much as I do.
3. I wanted to have 5 children! But considering my age and our economic situation, I have lower down my target to 3 max and at least 2.
4. Just like OrangeHeroMom, I suck at gardening... not that we have a garden as we live in a condo type residence, but we do have a few plants at home and I've already killed a couple of them :( .  But unlikeOrangeHeroMom, I stopped from trying... I don't want to kill any more innocent plants.  So I left this task to my loving husband who seems to have a green thumb he got from his mom.  Why didn't I get my mom's green thumb? Why oh, why?
5. Happily married for 4 yrs now going for 5 yrs this year :)
6. I love junk food... :-S I love sweets and salty.  I am addicted to cheetos but cheetos here in Spain is nothing like the ones in US so I've been craving for one for such a long time now.  And I am trying to cut down from junk food as I want to be a good example to our LSP.
7. I am from a big family... 5 girls and 1 boy... we were supposed to be 10 if only my mom didn't have 4 miscarriages.  My mom loves babies! plus my father wanted to have a baby boy so they kept trying until finally our kuya (big brother in Filipino) was given to us.

So there! It was tougher than I thought but here ya go 7 things about me.  And now the next task is to pass this one to other bloggers.  It wasn't clear to how many bloggers should I pass it on so I am choosing 7 of them!  7 is lucky so let's follow that number and be lucky ;-)

1. Ana of Creciendo con David
2. Chris of The Mommy Journey
3. Jinoe of Daddy And The City
4. Hope of Peanut Butter and Hopey
5. Cecille of Ces Little Corner
6. Jared-s mom of Jared's Little Corner
7. Ria of Beautiful Life
8. Kaye of Wahmaholic
9. Mrs. H of My Happily Ever After
10. Lea of Iska's Lessons From Working at Home

Ok, ok. I know these are not 7... I ended up awarding this to 10! Then again 10 is still a good numbe and I also consider it lucky :)  I can't help it there are just so many lovely blogs around there!
